About us

Who we are

We value our health above all else. Living happy, fulfilling lives and being in good physical and mental health allow us to reach our potential. A strong and productive labour force is the heart of our economy, and it fuels our prosperity. Additionally, it makes it possible for us to participate fully in family life, form social bonds with others, and strengthen our communities.

Many things influence our health, including our early years, the jobs we have and the money we make, the education we get, and the houses and places we live in. The availability of high-quality treatment, care, and support for everyone should be a goal of the health and care system in order to promote good health and wellbeing.

Nonetheless, good health remains out of reach for far too many people in the UK. The increase in life expectancy has slowed. In some critical areas of health, such as cancer, heart disease, mental illness, and HIV/AIDS, we lag behind other leading nations. Deep health disparities have grown between our poorest and wealthiest communities, particularly among black African communities in the UK. Meanwhile, health and care services are under enormous strain and struggle to provide timely, high-quality care.
